On Monday morning, I’m flying up to New York City for Blogworld Expo East, 2012. And… for the third time, I am the track organizer for monetization.
The monetization track for this conference is shaping up to be something awesome. And I wanted to publish a quick preview of the track.
Tuesday, 6/5
Missy Ward, the co-founder and President of Affiliate Summit, will be starting off the morning at 10:15AM with an overview of the world of affiliate marketing. You’ll learn how to track down products that fit your blog, plus Missy is going to cover 7 specific strategies to monetize a blog immediately using affiliate marketing.
At 11:30, my buddy, Adam Baker from Man vs. Debt, will be talking about how to find the sweet spot in your blogging and business. If you’ve had any difficulty figuring out what to blog about to make money, and how to find the right intersection between your passions and business potential… this will be a can’t miss session by Adam.
At 2:30, the king of passive income, my man Pat Flynn, will be talking about the SMART way to do affiliate marketing. He will talk about how to effectively engage in affiliate marketing… and this is the guy who knows. Pat routinely generates upwards of $40K monthly from his SPI blog primarily through affiliate marketing. This is going to be a great session.
Somebody has to follow Pat… and it might as well be me.
At 3:30, your’s truly will be doing a session which gives a full overview of the world of blog monetization. I’ll be talking about what all bloggers MUST consider which comes before any product you offer, and then I’ll be giving an overview of 11 different monetization models – and specific advice on each of them. I might not be the most polished speaker in the world, but this session will be PACKED with info. In fact, it is going to be a challenge getting it all in there.
Wednesday, 6/6
Starting off the morning at 10:15, Lewis Howes will be talking about how he built a 7-figure business in no time flat. What makes this one so interesting is that Lewis managed to do all this… AND have a pretty full life off the computer. If you’ve ever wanted an effective lifestyle business, Lewis is da man to listen to.
At 11:30, my buddy, Syed Balkhi from WPBeginner, will be covering the topic of lead generation using WordPress. Simply put, lead generation (whether it be list building or otherwise) is pretty much the primary purpose of a blog when it comes to running a real business. Syed will get specific on how to get it done, including specific tools and strategies.
At 2:30, Manny Puentes, the CTO of Lijit Networks, will be talking about NEW advertising opportunities for bloggers to use on their blogs. Advertising continues to be the primary and most popular way that bloggers monetize their blogs. In order to do it effectively, you need to keep up on what’s happening, the tools, the strategies, the trends. Manny will break it down.
At 3:30, Tim Street, from mDialog, will be be delving into the world of ebooks. Specifically, enhanced ebooks. We’re moving beyond the simple PDF document here. Tim will show you the new money-making opportunities in the world of content delivery via enhanced ebooks, including on the iPad and ePub.
Thursday, 6/7
We begin the final day at 10:15 with a panel: Making Money From Your Favorite Niche Market. This panel will be covering things such as how to turn small, niche markets into internet businesses, how to drive traffic to these niche sites, how to make money with videos and podcasting, etc. Panel members include Constance Mettler, Lou Mongello, Scott Fox and Pat Flynn.
At 11:30, Russ Henneberry will show you how to make money with your blog… in a hurry. See, Russ was laid off in 2009. He has two children and a life to support… and time was running out. What would you do if you needed to jumpstart an online business… for the sake of your family? Russ will show you how to defuse the time bomb. The clock is ticking… and you have to “monetize” before the time runs out. Can it be done?
At 2:30, Ross Borden will be talking about how he built a multi-million dollar enterprise from a passion. But, Ross won’t be talking about the same old stuff. Ross will be talking about REAL BUSINESS – a subject near and dear to my heart. If you want to stop farting around with low hanging fruit that most everybody tries and start focusing on real strategies based on tried and true fundamentals, check this session out.
Last but not least, my man, Stu McLaren from Wishlist Member, will be talking about 8 proven membership site models. In addition to showing you these 8 different models (and probably sparking a ton of ideas in the process), Stu will give you a blueprint to putting together your membership site, as well as some content marketing strategies to get your readers to convert into paying members. If membership sites interest you (and they should), there’s no better authority than Stu.
Where I’ll Be
If any of my readers will be in New York for Blogworld (and I imagine many will be), I’d love the opportunity to say “hi” in person. So, here’s what I know so far of my schedule next week.
On Monday, I’ll be… around. I’ve got a track leader meeting and a speaker party at night. And I might try to take a moment to get over and see the new 9/11 memorial.
On Tuesday, I’m obviously speaking at 3:30. And Tuesday evening, there’s an opening night networking party at Amnesia, a night club at 609 West 29th Street. It starts at 7PM and I plan to be there.
On Wednesday at 11:30, I’ll be on a panel talking about how to attract members to your online community. My participation on this panel will evolve completely out of my experience with PCMech.com and building up the community on the tech site. The panel will be run by Scott Fox, and I’ll be speaking along with Rob Ludlow and Lynette Young. And, there’s no official party that evening, however I’m planning to be at the party being hosted by my friends, Pat Flynn and Derek Halpern.
On Thursday, the closing night party will be at Hudson Terrace (621 W. 46th, between 11th and 12th Ave.) at 7PM.
Friday, I’m heading back to Tampa. I go right into daddy mode when I get back, and my little girl has a dance recital on Saturday. So, I’m happy that I’ll be back in town in time for that.
As the track leader, I’ll also be in the monetization room (room 1A10) for most sessions listed above (unless otherwise occupied).
.
So, should be an awesome conference. I’m looking forward to it.
If you’re going to be there, I’d love to meet you. If not, you can register to be there in person… or attend the “virtual ticket”. With that, you’ll have access to every session at the conference remotely. And it isn’t as if you have to sit there in front of the computer the whole week… you’ll have access to all recordings (plus some other bonuses). Click here to learn more about registration. I know it is last minute, but its OK. There’s still a little bit of time.

All Star lineup!
Looking forward to Blog World in San Francisco one day…
I rather doubt it will happen, but you never know. Expenses in NYC are bad enough. San Fran…. pretty expensive, too.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Blogworld East is somewhere other than NYC next year.
Looking forward to meeting you in a few days, David. See you at BlogWorld!
Right on.
David,
Enjoying the podcast so far. I often listen to Srini, Pat Flynn and now You. That’s a great lineup and looking forward to BWNY, even though the trip kind of broke the bank
Yeah, NYC ain’t cheap. I kinda hope they move it for next year.
Great idea. Can’t think of many places more expensive, except SF as you mentioned.
