There is a good chance – a REALLY good chance – that what I’m about to say pretty much describes you…
You want to start an online business and make some money. You find the options for doing that overwhelming – REALLY overwhelming. There is so much to learn, so many strategies and tactics. You read about people making money online in various ways, but each time it just feels like they’ve figured out some magic X-factor that you don’t.
What’s worse, it seems you need to buy things to get off the ground. And you don’t have much disposable income.
It is the true catch-22. But, is it?
The solution is to BOOTSTRAP it. And the truth of the matter is that most successful online entrepreneurs were bootstrapping it at the beginning.
I sure as hell was.
Today, I can afford to invest money into my business, but in the early days, that wasn’t the case. But, let me tell you this…
Online business is one of the most equal opportunity mediums for many reasons, but chief among them is this: You can pretty much create money out of thin air. It gets easier when you can re-invest money into it, but you CAN get started and bootstrap it.
My good friend, Nathan Hangen, is partnering up with Susan Baker to offer The Bootstrap Sessions. Both of these people are walking examples of entrepreneurs who bootstrapped it. Not to mention they’re both good people. I’ve met Susan on a couple of occasions and I talk to Nathan all the time.
They’re also doing something extremely creative – a virtual happy hour.
The virtual happy hour will be held on June 11th at 7PM EST. It is completely free to attend. Simply grab your favorite beverage, sit at the computer, and attend the happy hour. It will be a virtual networking session, complete with Q&A about your businesses and ideas.
You’ll even get their recipe for the event’s signature drink, “The Bootstrap”.
Once again, no ticket is required. Just enter your email address on their page so they can send you the event details.

Call me a tight wod, but I only put back in what the blog has earned. nothing more than that. Granted if I want to make the bigger bucks I need to invest my own put of pocket cash, but not at this time.
Ms Freeman, that's exactly what Bootstrapping is about!
Find crazy ways to make money you never thought you'd have. Once the fear of loss is gone…you'll be amazed at the transformation that takes place.
I think the best way to become independent and make money for sure is to develop PPC and other paid adverting skills. Once you have this skill, you can generate money any time you want. Instead of wasting time and money by endlessly watching videos and attending webinars, getting into coaching program, or giving your email to others so that they can fill your inbox day in and day out, concentrate one only thing – learning and becoming an expert on how to drive traffic using paid traffic sources. This is the sure and only way to make money whenever you want. There are lots of paid traffic sources, lots of affiliate products to promote and lots of financially challenged people. You will never run out of any one of them at least in your life time.
No, I am not selling any coaching program on paid traffic. There are plenty of them. I am just giving advice to people who are wasting their time reading guru's blog. Read all about PPC, CPA and paid traffic only. Once you control traffic, you control your destiny.
My online business journey started with adult web sites. Though I had earned plenty of money during its heyday and eventually selling them for big profits, I found myself that I really don't have any online skill that I can use any time I want to make money.
Then I learned paid traffic and thing was never better since then.
Is this an audio call where we can ask questions or just video recordings?
It's a presentation/webinar style. You can ask questions during the event and after. We're going to try and tackle as many as we can. Those that submit early will certainly get answered.
The thing I want to stress is that there is no pitch at the end. This is just 100% real content.
That's the Sessions.
The Virtual Happy Hour is a conference call with a Twitter stream and a lot of fun. We'll take questions there too, but we want to have fun.
Sounds like it's going to be one heck of a happy hour…any reason to sit at my computer with a cocktail is good enough for me
Thanks for the link David…I'll will be sure to sign up!
for those who have no clue what does 'bootstrap it' mean?
Bootstrapping is essentially the art of building a business one nickel at a time. How to find revenue where you didn't think it existed…how to earn startup cash…how to become profitable.
In the case of an online marketer, it's finding a way to pay for hosting and design. Brick and mortar…finding a way to pay for advertising, materials, or tools.
It's the term for building a business on a dime.
Looking forward to joining in that happy hour. Any good tipes for online work are more than welcome!
Paid traffic is good when you are selling or when conversion rates are actually very high. If you have a blog and rely on PPC and affiliate sales as you major income paid traffoc sources may not be effective enough. in many cases you will spend $10 to make only $1.
Well, bootstraping accurately describes what I am doing, so I think this would be a good event to attend. Thanks for the heads up
I think in order to be successful it takes dedication and persistance
Yeah it's usually not easy at the beginning but after a while I'm sure things go smoother after money isn't as much of an issue. Though knowing how to do a lot yourself can really help, or can it?
That is one of the best benefits of an online business… it's cheap to start. Anything you need to learn (almost), youtube/google it. As soon as you can, hire it out and focus on content and marketing.
Great post.
You are right – we really don't need a lot of money to start an online business. We just need to plan things carefully, pick a niche we love, and learn to produce interesting content. Things become much easier if we focus less on money.
That was the turning point in my business right there.
It can help you keep tabs on a freelancer, but it can also keep you focused on the little stuff for too long.
Coming to the Happy Hour?
Can't wait to chat
Woot! Here's to cocktails *cheers*
Bootstrapping is the only way I built my businesses. I didn't think of any other way.
If you're working on growing your business, or about to start one – I am positive that Nathan and Susan will have some amazing things to share with you at their event.
Too many people think they need a lot of $$ to start a business, but the truth is, you just need a little to start and then you really need to make sure you can afford to grow and not too quickly. I've seen it far too often people growing so fast that they don't have the cash flow to finance it. Too many business's have failed on not understanding how much money its takes to grow.
When times are good and business is booming sales and Social Networking Analysis often take a back seat for most small businesses. There’s too much else to do and if customers are knocking at the door of their own accord and sales targets are being achieved, then researching new, innovative or experimenting with other tried and tested marketing techniques becomes a low priority. Whilst it is easy for business owners to fall into this trap during the good times, I’ve always been a strong advocate of ‘Don’t Dig Your Well When You’re Thirsty!’
This is the only sure way to make money whenever you want. There are lots of sources of paid traffic, lots of affiliate products to promote and a lot of people economically challenged. You'll never be short of one of them, at least in the time of life.
exactly.
I just signed up, but all I see is a phone number to call. So…are you saying that for visual, we just need to go to Twitter?..Thanks…Barb
Yep, due to the amount of hosts and people coming, it's tough to get video on a level that can scale, so we're just sticking with Twitter tags: #vhh, Twitpics, and Dailybooth pics.
Of course, if you'd like to broadcast on Ustream, we'd love to have the link
Paid traffic is good when you are selling or the conversion rate is very high indeed. If you have a blog and PPC and affiliate sales as you traffoc rely on major income sources may not be effective enough to be paid
We are our own worst enemy so a lot of times, we often have great ideas but just lake the confidence to see it through or never gave it a try. Many of us are too afraid to fail and just looked for excuses to stall or look for other things to do. That's one of the reasons why we have 95 percent failure rate for people starting a new online business.
