Can I Ask a Little Favor?

My sincere hope is that, in the short amount of time that I have been routinely posting content to this blog, you have found what I’m doing here to be helpful. I sure do spend a lot of time making sure that it is!

This blog’s traffic has jumped up VERY quickly in a short amount of time. I’m tickled about that. I started PCMech many moons ago, back when there was much less competition out there. Today, PCMech has a lot of inertia behind it. When I started David Risley dot com, I knew that this was going to be a test of my chops.

I’m in a position of starting a blog from scratch. I haven’t done that in a LONG time. PCMech gets a lot of daily traffic. But, in the few short months that I’ve really been hammering on this blog, I’m happy to say that traffic to David Risley dot com is well on its way to catching up with PCMech. All this from a domain which was nothing but a stupid photo collage of me in the beginning of 2008. This is what this site looked like in March of 2008:

Picture 7

So, I hope you are enjoying my little experiment and many thanks to all of you guys who have become readers and are helping me prove to myself that I know how to make a blog grow from scratch in this day and age. :)

Now, about that favor.

As bloggers and social media users, you guys all have your own followings and your own audience. No matter what the size of that audience, you have one.

Do you think they might find this blog helpful?

If so, help spread the word. Send out a tweet. Recommend me to your network. Bookmark the site. Blog it. Email your friends about it.

I know this is shameless self-promotion, but I’m only asking that you do this if you truly find this blog helpful to you. :)

Oh, and post a comment below with your own blog URL. I’d love to check out what you’re doing, too.

I look forward to helping you in 2009.

I am in the process of completely changing my current blog to a design/creative/idea blog over the next few hours. I am definitely going to be linking to DavidRisley.com and will be pointing folks to your great content.

You give me hope and excitement for my personal brand too. Thanks for everything.

I fear my blog readership doesn’t represent your target market David, but I will certainly continue to recommend this blog as a resource with my other (marketing & PR) hat on.

Impressive ‘experiment’ as you put it. Long may your success continue. http://olliandlimeblog.com (by the way)

    Cheers!

    Hi David.

I am among those that find your blog helpful. Most of the time when you post a link at Twitter I usually check it out.

I am new to blogging myself. So I guess I more define me at the moment as a compulsive blogger. And I am just in the start of my learning process.

I usually retweet the most useful tweets from people like you and Darren Rowse.

By the way your twitter manual has been very helpful. Use it together with some of the info I find at http://www.twitip.com.

    Good luck with your blog.

    Cheers..

Hi. I’ve found your blog insiteful, interesting, and down to earth. I sure do enjoy it and have subscribed to you RSS feed on MyYahoo. I also follow you on Twitter.
I am just starting a blog for hand-drawn hidden picture puzzles and so far, over the past month,I’ve had 22 unique visits to my site. It’s not much but I only have two post, though. Sometimes I feel like giving up, but then I recall what you said about growing a blog and that it takes time, and then my confidence returns. I’d like to know what you thing would help my blog. I know more content would help, but what else? I appreciate and respect you comments.

I’m still working on building my own traffic, but I do have a link to this site in my blogroll. I’ve found a lot of useful information here, and I hope I’ve been able to introduce even one person to your site.

Thanks again, and keep up the great work!

David, I have found your site to be very useful. I began a blog in late December and am slowly building a readership. I’ve been at it for about 3 weeks and average around 25-30 hits a day. I added google ads and am looking for the right affiliates to add as well. I read this blog faithfully and will recommend it to other bloggers that I have connected with as well. You have been very helpful. Thanks!

I would have bet money that I had already linked to something here at least once.. but Google says I haven’t and Google never lies.

I did mention you and added a link in one of my e-books.. not quite the same thing but the thought was there.

Oh, I did link to you: it was in one of my smaller, less read blogs.. I’ll go add something to my main site right now..

As you may or may not be aware, I’ve had your recent RSS links displayed on my blog for some months. I know it’s brought you some traffic, although I’m not sure how much.

You’ve been practicing what you preach, and people have noticed that and followed you for advice:

This blog always has educational, interesting, and informative content, which is the reason why people visit. You produce and share valuable information and sensible tips: That will always draw an audience; and with your reputation for consistency and regular input that audience knows that they can always come back regularly for more of the same. – And they do.

Note: It’s not the value of the material alone that makes this blog great: It’s the consistency of the valuable material that generates not just one-time visitors, but regular visitors.

Good work, and many thanks for providing such a great resource.

The key theme for Sources of Insight (http://SourcesOfInsight.com) is “stand on the shoulders of giants.” It’s about sharing the world’s best insight and action for work and life, from books, people, and quotes.

I originally found your blog as a guest post on ProBlogger. The thing that struck me the most was a level of candor and insight that you don’t find everyday. The other thing that struck me was that your blog has the feel of place that just might be more about the exchange and less about the facade. That’s refreshing.

I’ve been sharing your work with colleagues on a daily basis ever since.

    Hi David
I have been subscribed to your newsletter, web and blog from about 2005! We have also been busy building our web site and have found your site to be of help from time to time! Currently we are viewing your site daily and wish we had the information you are now presenting back in the late 90′s! We would have done things a little different, now it seems like we are trying tame a beast!
Our audience is small and specific to lighting but we will add you our links!
    Thanks many times over

Most of my audiences are pretty new like yours, so I am going to hold off on promoting other sites blatantly…. but you’re very welcome to write a guest post for us about internet marketing, and you can promote yourself in the header of the post =)

Unless I read incorrectly, you want me to promote this site before you move onto another project? Just need a clarification, it seems I am not the only one who is a little confused by your request /situation.

If you want to do a guest-post on our site, that would be an even better way to promote this page if you have experience on the stock market.

Hey David, Love reading your blog. In fact I read your blog before I read my own e-mails! I will pass it on to about 2 people I know may find it helpful. Too bad you don’t have spanish contents, I know a bunch of people in Puerto Rico that can find this helpful. I doubt there is anyone on the island doing something like this. Well, maybe in the future. Thanks for all you do.

Hi David! I’ve been reading alot of your blogs but never replied to any till today. I certainly suggest PCMech to anyone with computer questions or issues and would certainly recommend you on my blog but this is where our tastes wildly diverge. While I am a self-professed geekette, I have a deep love of Origami and decided to try blogging on that. My humble site is at http://draceena.wordpress.com/ and if you feel that there is some relation between your blog and mine, I’ll certainly add a link on my end.
