Chances are, you are in 1 of 2 different camps as a blogger... But, first, check out this all-too-common scenario. You get an idea for a killer blog. You think it is going to be awesome. You’re going to make it the internet’s premiere site on this topic, and you’re going to be awesome. You’ll be the ninja, the guru, the authority on the niche. You see what the “A-list” does, so you’ll do that. So, you write a LOT of blog posts. I mean, seriously - A LOT of them. You … [Read more...]
Time For A Change
This blogging space is... interesting. It has changed alot, too, since the days when I got started in this niche. I guess I have some perspective on how things have changed. After all, I'm probably the most "veteran" of almost any online publisher you know. I got started in this business WAY the hell back in 1998. I was solely a technology blogger up until 2008, at which point I got into this blogger market. I did it because I felt like I had something to bring to the table. Plus, I wanted … [Read more...]
The Myth (And Danger) of Posting To Your Blog Every Day

You've probably heard this before... They say that it is a good idea to post to your blog every single day. They say that the more you post, the more Google will like you and that your audience will grow faster. Some people don't even start blogging or doing content marketing because they think it will be too demanding. They don't have time, or so they think. I'm going to bust the myth right now. I'm going to free you from that trap. It is blogging advice that others give that I think … [Read more...]
How To Stay Focused As A Blogger So You Can Get The Most Important Stuff Done
Another thing that shows up MAJORLY in my surveys is that the leading problem bloggers are dealing with isn't traffic, SEO or writing.... it is lack of time and staying focused. This is the reason I created Time Master Formula. So, today's post by Khoa Bui is right on point. Don't read this and then fall back into Facebook again. Take it to heart and DO something about it. - David . “Successful people don’t try to do everything, but instead focus on the most important tasks.” - … [Read more...]
SHOCKING: 56% of Bloggers Do No Email Marketing. Why Not?

Sometimes, people like me can't help but wonder why others read our advice and don't actually apply it. Case in point... A recent survey I ran over the weekend shows that 56.4% of bloggers (at least in my audience) don't engage in any kind of email marketing. 179 responses to that particular question - which isn't bad since I did run this thing right over Easter weekend. :) I was surprised by the result, though. (And, yes, the "shocking" pat of the headline was a bit of … [Read more...]
Advice from Millionaires on Blogging

Jaime Tardy interviews millionaires every week, over on Eventual Millionaire. And she has been making waves. I've even been sharing some of her great guest posts on other blogs because they're just... good. :) And today, she chimes in on applying the mindset of successful millionaires to blogging. Read it - and learn from it. People don't become millionaires by accident. As I've said many times, it all starts with mindset. Now, I'll leave you in Jaime's hands... Now that I've interviewed … [Read more...]
Are You Guest Posting At The Expense of Your Blog?

This is a guest post about guest posting (ironic, huh?) by Adarsh Thampy. Guest posting is awesome. None of us disagree with the fact that guest posting is a great way for building a brand and driving traffic to your blog. Lately guest posting has been such a rage that there are communities focusing on guest posting like myblogguest (it's a great community if you want to find potential blogs that accept guest posts), as well as some free and paid courses. While adopting guest … [Read more...]
7 Ways To Lengthen The Blog Post Lifespan
For most blogs, the life cycle of a blog post is pretty short. Unless you do a pretty good job with post SEO and it brings you long-term search traffic, your post which you worked so hard on will simply fall into the archives of your blog - never to be seen again. What a waste! Because, I don't know about you, but I have a lot of good stuff back in the archives of my blogs. And it is a real shame when they don't serve me longer. Well, there ARE things you can do in order to lengthen the … [Read more...]
15-Step Blogger Checklist: Before You Hit The Publish Button [Downloadable]

There are certain actions that you should try to execute before you hit the publish button on any blog post. Some of these actions are for readability, others for SEO purposes, others just for organization. Having a checklist is of paramount importance. I see too many bloggers who just brain dump into Wordpress and hit "Publish". No strategy in mind - no nothing. Then, nobody comes. Not only that, if you had an opportunity to sit over the shoulders of most of your readers (if you have … [Read more...]

OK, we're about to wrap up another week here. A reminder, if you want to make sure you get the latest from this blog sent right to you automagically, be sure to subscribe to this blog. I don't send all my blog posts to my main email list (which will make Allison from Blogworld happy - see below for context)... but I do have options if that's what you would like. :) From my side of the ship, we've got: Why there's something to be said for deleting email subscribers What to do about … [Read more...]
