Blog Giveaway: Win Copy Of Gary Vaynerchuk’s “Crush It!”

book-header2-transI want to give you a free copy of “Crush It”, the bestselling book by Gary Vaynerchuk.

I probably don’t even need to tell you much about Gary. Most people in our circle know who he is and what he’s about. I have read the book and it is a great one, especially for bloggers (video or otherwise).

The spirit of the book is what I admire the most. It is all about getting out there and kicking ass. However, Gary also goes into his views on how to build an online brand and a community of followers and, as the title says, cash in on your passion.

So, here’s how this is going to work. I obviously can’t afford to buy every one of my readers a copy of Gary’s book, however I have 10 copies here to give away. I want to do a contest. One which embodies the spirit of Gary’s book. So, here it is…

I want to pick the top 10 contest entries who are absolutely crushing it. I want to reward people for taking action and making things happen as bloggers.. So, you can enter this contest by doing the following two actions:

  1. Post a comment below and tell me and everybody else what you have accomplished so far this year to CRUSH IT with your blog. What will you do in the next 3 months? What are you doing differently to really step up your game? How are you actively making 2010 an absolutely killer year for your life as a blogger?
  2. Retweet a link to this post and tell your followers that you’ve entered the contest.

I am going to pick the 10 biggest action takers and send them a copy of this book. I’m also going to feature a link to your blog and your entry right here on DavidRisley.com when I announce the winners.

I’m going to let this contest run all this week, and I’ll announce winners next week. So, I’ll put a deadline of Sunday, 4/25 at 12AM for entries.

I’ll be looking for real action, not just lip service. You might even include some stats to show the results of your work. Include an aspiring story, perhaps.

I’ll admit fully that the selection of winners here is going to be completely subjective, however I really want to find people who are embodying the spirit of Gary’s book. It isn’t even about Gary’s book, because I’ve always said that it is people who lean forward and take action who are going to see results – always.

So, start commenting and retweeting! May the 10 biggest action takers win, and I look forward to also telling the entire audience about you and your blog.

UPDATE 4/26, 11:30 AM EST – This contest is now closed. I’ll be going through the submissions and announcing winners soon. Stay tuned!

I have to lie down now. Just reading your list makes me tired (and wildly excited. Go Dave Go!).

  • http://website-in-a-weekend.net/ Dave Doolin

Kelly, thanks, I really appreciate your encouragement! I have to admit it's wearing… but I can't let these Young Whippersnappers show up the Old Man here. Cause Old Guys Rule doncha know. (Yes, it's a web site)

  • Kelly_Diels

Sean, having a day job for the first 10 months of my blog was a blessing. It was exhausting, but it forced me to be intensely productive in the short spaces of time I had available. It also forced me to do something for my blog and my business every day, because there was no time or space for procrastination.

I think the more you have to juggle, the more juggling you do. “Furious” is always a great pace.

  • Kelly_Diels

What is the age range for whippersnappers? And Old Guys? A wannabe un-cougar wants to know.

Ok, back to crushing it. I have two interviews to attend to this afternoon so that I can create products. I'm going to break $100K this year. I said it here, so now I have to make it happen.

First, I got serious and joined Blog Masters Club to find out what you know that can help me monetize my blog. Then I really, really took BMC seriously and am working every step with care. Next, I asked other BMC members for feedback and got a BIGGGG shock as I thought it was so meaningful. Well, the feedback really took me in a new direction where I rebranded the entire site and changed the look and feel and the domain. Now it is not ambiguous…it says exactly who it is for and what it offers a reader.

I held my first teleseminar in March and had 30 people attend and 18 download it. I sold 5 courses. I am please with my first attempt. I am also interacting with many other blogs and exchanging links, posts, guest posts, and buttons. I also have two radio shows and a third will be started by fall. One group approached me to do a radio show for them and they have over 2000 members. Great connection for my expansion.

As I realized that many people want to blog, yet have no earthly idea how to install and create a look for their blog, I developed a series of coaching packages. I am offering everything from I will install it for you to fire your webmaster.

I started a FaceBook Fan Page last Friday and had 300 fans this morning. I created a blinged out Fan Page with custom welcome page and sidebar. I just finished an animated button for readers to place on their websites and blogs. I have also designed several blog banners for people as a result.

Even writing this makes me tired!!! But it is working and I am feeling more like a professional blogger each day.

whoa…. do you like….sleep!? LOL that's an amazing list of things done and to come :) I am looking forward to seeing it all!

Hey David! Love the contest! So far this year, I'm still figuring out this blogging stuff. The number one thing I've learned is that blogs don't make money, businesses make money and businesses sell products and services. With that said, here is what I am doing.

What will you do in the next 3 months?
I'll be releasing two free courses to build my lists, one later this week and the other in about a month. I'll be re-launching my first product in the middle of May and I'll be publishing my landmark product at the end of May.

What are you doing differently to really step up your game?
Focusing on product development, product launch and affiliate relationships.

How are you actively making 2010 an absolutely killer year for your life as a blogger?
In addition to the previous plans, I have two more products in the works that will be available by the end of the year.

But before I can do all of the things I want, I have to graduate from Colorado State. I would love to have a copy of Gary's book!

  • http://pararir.com Ricardo Silva

Wow, lots to say about last year.

About 9 months ago I started my first blog along with a good friend of mine – a humor blog in Portuguese. I made a Content and Marketing plan for the blog right from the start – I was inspired by your Blueprint Report, actually!

We established objectives, for the first month, 3 months and for the end of 2010. And managed to fulfill all of those as of march of this year!

Actually we did way better than expected!

    To sum it up:

    - We managed so far to stay faithful to our promise of publishing at least one new post each day;

    - We pursued an aggressive approach to obtaining subscribers (not only marketing wise but also with the delivery of great content, of course!). So far we have more than 5150 subscribers!

    - Over 5000 fans in FaceBook :)

    - We currently have more than 1000 unique visitors and over 3000 page views per day;

    - Our brand is beginning to be everywhere – Twitter, FaceBook, Youtube, Hi5, and much much more (in Videos alone we are in several places at once, thanks to the great tip I read in your blog concerning TubeMogul)

    - We are also active on forums and already got some guest post published in famous Portuguese blogs;

    - Google is also rewarding our hard work and good content (PR 1 after 3 months, PR 2 in half a year and now a PR 3 baby was recently born ^_^)

    - Portuguese Alexa rank of 3000 :)

    - We also created our own products, that are selling like hot cakes – we already scored literally hundreds of sales.

Our trick was simple, but we had to adapt to the Portuguese reality: people in Portugal don't know / like / are afraid to pay things with their credit cards online. Paypal is too complicated for them. But 99.7% of them have cell phones (we have the biggest cell phone per capita of all Europe by the way).

So we started selling our products by sms. And it's paying off big! Know your clients, adapt and never be afraid to experiment. Learned with you too :)

All of this in 9 months. I'm really proud of this, considering our context. This is not a English site, so of course our target audience is way smaller. This is also not a porn site or something that attracts loads of traffic, just because :s It's a humor site, with lots of competitions out there. So I'm quite happy.

Plans for the future? For starters a new design for our blog – our progressive change to becoming a portal of humor will get a huge boost with that.

Grow our interaction with the community. We are soon going to experiment on a forum.

Continue to expand our influence in the social networks, but also offline. Start to try to do interviews with people of the show biz – stand up comedians for instance. Try to become known in the circle of Portuguese humor. Try to establish ourselves as a two sided door from the public to the Portuguese comedians – and comedy shows :)

Continue our hard work, but one step of a time, remaining faithful to our core principle – one post per day.

Also, let me add a couple more things:

    1. Me and my partner were not related to the computer or Internet world – he works on a factory and I'm a male nurse, can you imagine?

    2. Since I began this enterprise I learned basic HTML, CSS, Online Marketing, SEO, creating applications on FaceBook, Image Editing (in GIMP), Video Editing, just to name a few, so…

    3. … I'm actually having fun! And at the same time I feel I bring something of value to my readers. And that makes me even happier.

    4. Oh, one more thing… I won't be excluded from this book contest because I live in Portugal, will I? ^_^'

    Thanks Dave =)

  • dadofdivas

For me I have been working hard o build my reader based lately and hav been running a number of new giveaways to push the bllog to the next level. I also have been working on my e-book and hope to have it ready to go within the next 3 months!

  • mommyreporter

I am not as successful as the other people who have already posted, but I am trying to make my blog better and better everyday. My blog doesn't have as much traffic as I'd like and I don't have as much experience as some of the others, but again, I am trying, trying, trying… LOL

The good thing is that in the past year, I have posted on my blog at least once everyday (Mon. through Fri.), sometimes several posts a day, but I always post at least once a day.

I'm still trying to build my blog, but in the past four months:

-I launched a YouTube channel and now have over 200 subscribers
-I was a featured speaker on a panel in a seminar about blogging
-I have established relationships with several PR firms for product reviews/promotions
-I became a brand ambassador for a household cleaning product
-I became a blog panelist for a family entertainment cable channel network
-I had 9 giveaways/contests on my blog to increase comments and traffic
-I began freelancing as a blog consultant and blog contributor
-I purchased new video editing software

Within the next three months, I will:

    -Host a web tv show
-Begin podcasting a weekly audio show
    -Get my blog professionally redesigned
-Set up a better email list
    -Attend a blog/networking function
-Continue building my brand and increasing my social media presence and influence

I am still trying to monetize my blog and grow my readership. I hope to learn more as I expand my brand into other areas. I also plan on doing more vlogs and improving my video editing skills.

  • http://website-in-a-weekend.net/ Dave Doolin

You're going to 6 figs easy this year. No question.

  • Robert

I don't deserve the book yet…but need it. I need to get off my dead butt and put into action everything that is in my brain!

  • http://lwees.com/ LwEEs

While I've been blogging for awhile now, I haven't put to much effort to bring people to my site. I'm converting my blog into a community and having transition my blog from WordPress to WordPress MU and BuddyPress with no knowledge of HTML, CSS, and PHP has been a challenge for me. My next step is to develop several areas of my blog to encourage participation, my goal is not to have visitors but to have a community. You can follow me in Twitter by searching for @LwEEs, bye.

  • http://baddeacondesign.com Sean *Deacon* Neprud

I was prepared for furious action, and then all of a sudden DayJob made a quick break, to the point where furiously keeping up would result in a breakdown. I'm re-arranging.

  • Kelly_Diels

Oh that wasn't a slight, in any way. I meant to lend you encouragement. The furious pace is the pace your job is requiring – you're doing things, there. And when that subsides, your art is waiting for you (and so are we).

I'm on intimate terms with breakdowns. I write them into the plan. Don't try this at home.

  • http://baddeacondesign.com Sean *Deacon* Neprud

Not taken as a slight at all ;)

  • evanhadkins

The contest means that those who need it least get the book. Those who are already doing it are those who need it least. I don't imagine this comment will win me one of the copies.

  • http://www.littlepeoplewealth.com Heidi

Crush it… I LOVE it! I have really kicked it into high gear this year and I do not plan on stopping.

I started the year focusing on SEO on a few key older posts. Then I started writing guest posts that link into those posts along with my homepage. I started submitting 10-15 posts to carnivals each month. Both of those led to many new links into my blog. I also had a complete re-design of my site and it looks great! I had her draw from scratch so the brand is absolutely not something you would happen to see at another location. I also re-designed the navigation to help people dig further into my blog.

I started writing pillar posts for a second blog and I hired the same designer to set up that site. The design is still in the works, but I am ready for a launch as soon as she gets it settled.

The design of the first site was completed just before my second was born. It was perfect timing for me to really focus on getting my “new” brand out there. I submitted some of my best deals (I run a finance site) to a local news station and I was featured a few times on their frugal blog. That brought me more local traffic. Once my local traffic picked up I was contacted by a writer who was being interviewed for a local newspaper asking if it would be okay if she recommended my blog as a way to learn how to save money. These were both smaller more local things, but it did bring me targeted traffic.

I wrote a series on using different refunding sites to save money and added to my series on playing the drugstore games (I already had a beginners tutorial, which I added to. Plus, I added an advanced tutorial). That led to increased traffic. I started twitter (yes, I had not tried that yet) and facebook and my followers are increasing on both of those.

Just last week I was contacted about partnering with a forum that is perfect for my niche. They take all my posts and feed them straight to the forum. They have also made a store specific forum just for my matchups to go. Each one is linked to me and non of it requires any work on my end. I have already received quite a bit of traffic from them and it is all very targetted.

In the works… The launch of the second site (still in the realm of finance but it is specifically about weddings.), continuing to be listed in 10+ carnivals per month, more financial planning financial commentary posts (at least one per week) which will be submitted to tipd, increasing followers on twitter and facebook, a third month long series which is already half written, 2-3 guest posts each month, and creating a cover for my EBooks and promoting them through EJunkie so I can create an affiliate program with them.

I also need to start a “real” newsletter as the only email subscription I have is through feedburner. Yikes, I know – it's a biggie, but I would like to release it at the same time as my EBooks so I can promote them together.

I started my blog last year with the help and guidance of Pro-blogger 31 day course and soon found out a new world of online media..I went through lot of ups and downs but still have survived my first year.
For coming years my plans are to start online consultation of my business through my website which would be a great idea. I am also trying to write some guest posts on other blogs and hire some writers for my blog .

  • joshuanoerr

I am new to this whole blogging thing. I didn't know how to do anything, but I knew I wanted to blog. I went live March 12, 2010. I am already averaging over 100 visitors daily. I am still stumbling along a bit, but thanks to blogs like this one, I will reach my goals. Not bad for knowing absolutely nothing about blogging three months ago!

  • luis rodriguez

by relentles errosion on the value of savings inflation detroys the desire to have the financial independence to be on the giving side of personal economic matters….live and let die…

  • kim_at_allconsuming

Well, I have only just discovered you and am about a third of the way through 'Six Figure Blogger Blueprint' so I'm not sure I'm crushing anything yet. BUT I have rebadged five of my top articles AND I certainly have started to shift my mindset in terms of what my blog(s) is (are) and how to make them work for me.

I've been blogging since 2003 and have a loyal little following (about 1,000 hits a week on my main blog).

I've got four kids, one with special needs and a husband who loves what he does but is not overly ambitious or agressive or assertive in increasing his salary. So here I sit, poor as a church mouse and really wanting to work from home to ease our financial dire straits.

2010 is going to be the year I shift my attitude and focus with my blogs, develop ezines and books for readers to buy and move my online presence from small fish to big fish. Bring it.

  • http://twtrcoach.com TwtrCoach

    Nice contest idea here David.

Crush It is one of the few books I have not got yet.

This year I have been able to define the right combination of my passion and my blog.

I got my self started on some advanced blogger training – Blog Masters Club is one program. Also have access to 3DayMoney and Chris Garrets Authority Blogger training.

I get a professional theme for my blog. That has a made a huge difference.

Written 4 guest posts so far.

The next 3 months will be used to apply all this new gained knowledge to my blog.

2010 is the year of the Tiger — and I was born in the year of the Tiger — so I have positioned myself for that this is going to be a killer year.

    Cheers.. Are

  • http://ericasays.com EricaMueller

Dave, so far, 2010 has been a crush-it year for me. Until Jan I didn't really treat my blog as a business, even tho I've had several businesses and a design service site for some time.

    In Jan I decided to:
Redesign my site to match the niche I'd settled on
Start guest blogging at least once a month, and contributing to another network bi-monthly
Attend at least one blogging conference
    Increase my income

By Jan 30th I'd brought in more income than I had the entire previous year, redesigned the site, and started an email newsletter.
In Feb I started my first ebook… I'm NOT a writer, so I'd never planned to have a book, but the idea came, and it's going to happen!
By the first week in March I'd attended two blog conferences.
I've also established a fairly decent blogging schedule.

Now, I'll have to note my blog is just a feeder for my actual business which is WordPress theme Modification, installs, and services, + some graphic design, so to have done all of that while more than doubling my income and clients at the web services thing is quite an accomplishment!

Oh yes, and I'm a stay at home mom of a 3 year old. :-)

In the next three months I want to expand my newsletter reach, work on my ebook and get it close to finish, create a publish a few free products, and continue to blog /drive people to my services.

  • rayvonnejohnson

So far reading the comments others are really “Crushing It” its very inspiring to say the least. So now how will I Crush It this year?
I just started my blog a month ago I do not plan to go live officially May 1st So I can have 30 good post and in the next three month
I planned to have a minimum of 75 post with 30 in queue.
I am joining my first paid forum group with Chris G
On a daily basis I will implement my marketing plan which includes 7 guest post.
I have a creative contest to unleash after my first 90 days.
    Build my community from 0-100.

  • http://www.rezdwanhamid.com/ Rezdwan Hamid

Hello David. So many here have achieved so much and it made me think twice about writing my achievements and goals here. Feel kind of small in this huge blogosphere. Consider this.

I started my blog in January this year. Steady stream of traffic started coming in along with a small number of subscribers. Started with PageRank 0 and got to PageRank 2 within 3 months.

Posting frequency started with only 3 per week and now I am doing 5 per week. That got me to my 100th blog post about 2 weeks ago. The blog still have not got much comments going.

For the next 3 months, I am focusing on submitting more guest post to bring in more traffic to my blog. At the same time, I am working on my first info product to be launched in July 2010.

I am a little worried about my blog high bounce rate and email list conversion rate and I hope to change that along the way. Any tips and suggestions that you all have is very much welcomed.

Like most of everyone else here, I want to make an income online and blogging will be the marketing platform to achieve it (without a single banner ad). This is my goal for 2010.

  • http://www.patsanimation.com pat

    Rock on, Double-D!

  • http://website-in-a-weekend.net/ Dave Doolin

J, I do, but don't tell anyone. Gotta maintain appearances, right.

  • Brigitte

Love the contest idea, love your work. Shame I won't be able to win it because I have neither a blog – yet – nor a twitter account. But let me just say that having signed up to just about every newsletter about making money online there is …. you should see my inbox !!! … I still think that this is the best site to come to, and the most honestly helpful one. Straight talk suits me. And the couch sessions….I sure need a few of these.
Life has recently kicked my ass and I need to make money. Setting up a blog sounds good to me, something I can do from home. The free information I have gathered so far makes for a large and interesting library, as I only keep what's really useful, to me anyway. There's a fair bit of sifting and sorting required to get to the good stuff. After all I have to spend my money wisely and there are a lot of, shall we say, not so honest people out there that happily take your money, any money.
I am nearly ready to set up. I want to do it properly and I have been working on content for a few months whilst educating myself, being a complete computer idiot with a very steep learning curve going.
Good luck to everyone who enters. I am cheering for you all the way.

  • Consolata

    Where do I start?
I have being blogging for about 2 years off an on now. I took a long break in July 2007 till Jan 2009 had a new baby and had to cope alone with new baby and first child with no help and a full time job.

In 2009 I returned to blogging and have created and written about 200 posts in my two blogs by myself.
I write on Women [Life, Family and Relationships] and International Roaming and associated Mobile services. I average a low readership of about 100 visitors a month on my Woman-Incorporated blog and an equally low readership of about 80-100 visitors monthly on my International Roaming Explained blog [posting here has become quite sporadic].

I have created some followers [about 40] for Woman-Incorporated on Twitter; but there seem robotic and unhelpful…… I am about to un-follow all of them and restart the process.

I also hope to find time to network on similar type blogs; leaving comments and guest posts when time allows.

I hope to finish my first e-book and offer it free as a viral marketing tool to spread my band name and improve my traffic and visitor and of course commenting.

Locally I also plan to print some newsletters and distribute to encourage readership and follower-ship of women and others who will enjoy my human angled articles- This will put my brand out there [Have to be extremely careful with this as I do not want to jeopardize my job - need the money it brings desperately].

I would also like to start writing on Technorati to further promote my brand; I have been accepted as a writer but have not been able to put out an article yet.

I still cannot dedicate fully to blogging, networking and promoting my blog; as I live in Nigeria:

    I. Where I have not had light in the past 6 weeks [we have been using generators constantly for over 6 weeks at a stretch - never been this bad]. This is creating so much noise I can hardy think or even hear my self.
    2. I hold a full time job and do not get home until 8-9pm daily
    3. Have to still take care of 2 young kids and a Hussy who I can only devote time to really early in the mornings and at weekend.
    4. Internet connectivity at is best is expensive and slow; Just bought a new package hoping to get faster speed……. just a very tall dream.

I long to work from home full time so I can first devote more time to my kids and husband and secondly to my blogging and writing efforts. I would love to write some books some day. I really love writing and reading when time permits.

This book will really come in handy it will give me hope, inspiration and courage to forge ahead in this bleak some times hopeless situation I find myself.
Mind you I love my country and its people but I sometimes hope for some real advancement and development that will push us ahead so we can focus on Loving, Living and Life.

But even if I don't win this book I enjoy your blog it gives me ideas and inspiration and hope for my blogging future.

January 1 2010 Professionally, I bought 34 year old craft business 11 months before. Had a web address that had expired 24 months before and an email address attached to the ISP rather than a web address with a shop identity. I am considered more than competant with basic MSOffice Suite of products.
Personally my web use was a personal yahoo account that was crap for sending attachments, a Facebook account that had garnered 2 comments from complete strangers that I was a crap Facebook user (what the ?) and Amazon, EBay, Paypal usage at the cumulative use of maybe once every 18 months for the last 7 years.
I went to a talk on e-commerce and how it had jumped from Dog years (1:7) to mice years (1:20) and a friend sent an email on the impact of social media and the fact that the fastest growing group of new users are women 35-55, my target population. I re-briefed my web builders that I wanted a light-footed product that could be edited by me and products taken off and on with a click. I beefed up the privacy settings on my Facebook account, opened a Twitter account, bought Adobe photoshop 8 and got out my little digital camera. The website went live on Feb 15th with 6 products that I have since revised and one post. The web builders did the frame work, I have done everything else. I have a personal blog that I started as a practice model, so I didn't blow off steam on the blog on some dumb tangent instead of focusing on my business.
Darren Rowse book “31 days to build a better blog” has been invaluable as has Lisa Sabin-Wilson's WordPress for Dummies, and the e hand book to the e-commerce plugin for the site. Adobe photoshop CS4 also sits at my right hand.
Today I had my 3rd and 4th sales on the website, and as of today we have 19 registered users of the site. I have 25 Facebook fans and 18 Twitter followers (would have been more but they were crappy spam senders that I blocked). I sent the link to Fun, Funky, Fast and Fab to the author of the book I reviewed in the post and she was so chuffed she has sent it to her publishers. They are now using the review to publicise the book to craft magazines with my name, business name and website acknowledged. There are probably people who have achieved more in that time frame but I would bet $1000 that none of them also have a 15 month old active baby underfoot and a husband that works long hours at shift work.
Moving forward I will take to heart your guest post on Darren Rowse Problogger and focus on product rather than posts. Aim to post once or twice a week and add in a You Tube file link on a movie how to guide for needlecrafters once a month.

There are some awesome contenders on here but I just have to add a nod of thanks for all that you have done so far. I don't know if support for potential prize recipients counts for much but in case it does, had to add my voice of support ;)

There are a lot of behind the scenes yet to be unveiled exciting happenings for us at Give A Brick which would not be having their 'ta-da' moment if it weren't for you so thank you and good luck :D

  • http://www.giveabrick.com/ Eleanor Edwards

I love your honesty Robert. There are a lot of people putting their case forward in very compelling terms but I suspect you might be right about you needing the book more ;) Personally I wouldn't try putting into action everything that is in my brain, not all at once anyway! But you could pick one thing and start with that. That proverb about the journey of a thousand miles starting with a single step is very true and would be worth keeping in mind :)

For what its worth, I'd give you a copy if it were my contest, if nothing else, for your honesty! That said, I can understand why DR's opting for the talent contest approach. If you're going to give someone a gift, you want to know they're going to use it right?

Why not check out your local library and see if they have a copy? That's what I'm going to do ;)

There are so many massively compelling examples on here you're going to struggle to pick just ten lucky winners I'm sure David. I'm still re-reading and putting into practice 'Four Hour Work Week' which I won back in February courtesy of the lovely Matthew Needham and his Big Red Tomato Company so it would be unfair of me to be greedy and try and win again.

That said, I am planning on visiting my local library to see if they have a copy I can borrow because building community is at the heart of Give A Brick both online and offline. To that end, I'm being a little bit cheeky and stealing five seconds of fame to tell your lovely readers that if they ever have something in their heart that doesn't fit their brand, feel free to head over in our direction. We have such a wide range of very loose themes, I'm sure we can find space for your voice :)

Oh, and if anyone loves the idea of Giving A Brick (£1) to the first UK registered charity that asks people to only donate one pound, you can do that over at our place too. I've learnt over the last fortnight that amazing things happen when you ask for things so this was too good an opportunity to miss. I hope no-one minds :)

    Thanks,
    El x

OK, a little post script. You guys have just cost me £7.99. I figured that if this many people wanted a copy for free then it must be good so I checked out Amazon (via The Giving Machine of course so Give A Brick got 12p too) and ordered myself a copy. I haven't told my husband yet and he's always telling me off for buying daft books (no offence, he just doesn't live online like you and I) but it's my birthday in a few weeks time so I figured I can use that as an excuse ;)

Hey Eleanor you'll have to read it in secret like a little Gary V addict lol

  • http://www.giveabrick.com/ Eleanor Edwards

lol Yep, that might be necessary. Although I'm not very good at keeping secrets so playing the 'it's for my birthday' card might work better. I've not used that line yet this year ;)

Holy shit batman…that's a lot of comments!

  • http://nathanhangen.com/blog Nathan Hangen

I'll see your drinking at blogworld and raise you drinking at Audience Conference, Affiliate Summit, Modern Media Man Summit, and in my home office while I work :)

Anyway…don't you have a copy of Crush It yet?

  • http://nathanhangen.com/blog Nathan Hangen

Just wish they talked about it more. Then again, hard to comment when you're busy kicking ass.

OK well, reading those comments is depressing or everyone’s lying to get some traffic…

My website and blog life pale in comparison, but from my perspective, I’ve made HUGE strides. Probably my biggest accomplishment of all, was just starting, which I wrote about here: http://bit.ly/bUyeWg. I’ve mulled over the ideas I’ve begun to express on my site, but I held them back, unknowingly, for FEAR of backlash I knew I would surely get, as the subject matter is sure to piss almost everyone off. I’m not trying to push buttons, I really believe in the principles I espouse.

My goals this year, first of all is just to keep going. I have a major issue with consistency and giving up, so that comes first.
I plan to step it up by writing more and more from my heart and express deeply and fully the issue’s I want to engage with others.
2010 is already a milestone for me to just get this thing rolling, Crushing my fears…I’ve already made a few bucks, but bringing in some type of decent wage is of course the dream that I will pursue with all my being, thus my need for the book!

Great excuse! It's nice having a common frame of reference.

For me, interacting with other blogs and producing good and unique content have been very helpful in increasing the rank of our blog.

  • http://www.giveabrick.com/ Eleanor Edwards

Thanks Dave :) Did you catch the subtle little hint about The Giving Machine too? Pretty useless for an International audience as it's a UK thing but worth throwing in a mention anyway since I'm sure DR has lots of UK fans. Nearly £300 now donated from the online shopping efforts of just 15 people. Cool eh ;)

What have I accomplished with my blog?

Started it out of passion to research and investigate how businesses works, how the cash flows in and out of business, etc in September 2009. A couple of months later, I decided to write up an e-book and it's half way done. Requires further research on the “special” entrepreneurs if there are any.

I am slowly creating a network of young entrepreneurs in my local country and hopefully with my neighbouring countries as well (Sabah, Sarawak and Kalimantan.) Through this method, I should be able to have enough traffic to gain enough responses and fill up my constant survey of different business ideas for my blog.

What am I going to accomplish with my blog?

So far there are 3 ways to start monetizing my blog:

    1. Online Business Magazine – Instead of the usual published and printed magazine, I'll just make one online. Saves cost on printing and save the trees. A green business, I suppose. But as I went through, there is already a competitor in the business magazine market and now I'm researching to find an innovative approach on the market that can beat my opponent. Somehow..

    2. Entrepreneur E-Library – Since I've been recording, investigating and researching on different types of business, probably my next move is to start recommending different books. A useful business idea for those studying in Business studies degree or diploma or even for those who just wants to be an entrepreneur one way or another.

    3. Entrepreneur Workshop – Basically, e-learning in Business Studies or Business in IT. By gathering a few professional lecturers to co-work with me on this project and launch it worldwide as an official Entrepreneur Workshop company. And not just for the adults but also for kids.

So 3 different paths to “Crush it!”. Or should I choose to have all 3 to “Over-crush it” instead? ;)

Now that's some good crushing right there. All the best Dave!

So far I've started a facebook page and got a pretty good response, narrowed my focus on my posts, wrote and launched an ebook, started a newsletter with the ebook launch and met 65% of my launch subscriber goal, moderating a group on a social network in a related niche, received an offer to have my own section in an online magazine writing twice a month.

Over the next 3 months, I plan to release two more ebooks, hold a webinar, double the facebook page members, double the subscribers to the newsletter, double the daily visits and comments on the blog and double my sales of the newly released ebook while building up exposure and sales for the other two.

I am learning so much and have really stepped up my game quite a few notches. It's a learning curve for many things but worth the time and effort.
