Ever seen the movie National Treasure? Nicholas Cage is chasing down a series of clues to find this notorious treasure. They go through all kinds of adventures. Everything is very mysterious. The clues cryptic. Almost as if the people who hid the treasure were actively TRYING to make it hard to find. It was a big conspiracy to hide the golden ticket.
Is making money online the same way?
Is there a big treasure hunt to embark on when you seek to make money on the Internet? It can seem that way. However, what I’m about to tell you is really the golden ticket. It is your treasure. But, it looks so deceptively simple that your instinct will be to think “OK, but…”. But, that instinctual reaction is just the beginning of that little devil sitting on your shoulder telling you you can’t do it.
OK, here it is. Here are the steps to make money on the Internet, whether it be a blog or anything else:
- Get attention.
- Make an offer.
- Make another offer.
- Rinse and repeat.
There you go. You now have the blueprint to internet riches.
Seems too simple? Well, sorry about that. But, in an effort to satisfy those who want a bit more complexity, let me try for you.
- Put up a site, provide value and get people to take notice. Either start a blog and hit the ground running, or take the quick route and buy traffic from Adwords or something similar. It isn’t hard to get attention these days. But, you have to be willing to either pay for it or take bold, aggressive action to do it yourself.
- Create a product and offer it to the people paying attention to you. If you’re a blogger, than create an info product relevant to your audience and offer it. Sell it. If you’re using Adwords, then direct every click to your offer. So many bloggers fail on this step. They don’t offer anything that generates revenue. You’re not going to make hardly a dime if you don’t make an offer and ask for a sale. Making money by way of ads is very limiting.
- So, you have an offer and people are buying. Great! Now, do it again. You should always be creating something new to offer. Your old customers may buy your new product, thereby increasing the total customer value of each person. Plus, every product you offer provides yet another gateway to a new person becoming a customer. This is a business. Businesses sell things. You’ll always be better off with more things to sell.
- This is a process. This thing constantly loops. You are always working to build attention. You use every offer to build more attention. Over time, you have a juggernaut that will be hard to stop.
By this point, you’ve probably realized that this isn’t rocket science at all. It is work, however. The rules of business aren’t different on the Internet. The medium is different, but not the principles.
If you are a blogger who dreams of becoming a problogger, then above is your formula. Period. End of story.
