Hi, didn’t see a thread about this already..
I’m doing the Business Building Bootcamp..
I’ve done my 5 lists of markets.
Now comes the part where I have to find the intersections, by combining the five lists.
But how, exactly?
I’ve listened to the video a number of times, but it’s still not clear to me what the steps are.
- Take the top market from each of the five lists, then do the niche research on all five (they’re all different)?
- Take the top five from each of the lists, then look for the largest number of intersections?
- Something else?
And in any case, over the five lists there are some very different markets, so what exactly do you mean David, when you say “combine” them?
I’m really desperately awaiting your response David, thanks.

The idea is mainly to look for overlap. If you want, you can drop your lists here and maybe we can figure something out here.
Keep in mind, a lot of niche selection just comes down to… making a decision. Going with your gut. I think a lot of people get hung up on trying to have external factors just determine your niche for you, but that’s not really impossible. In the end, you do a bit of research, some gut-searching, then you just make a decision and roll with it.

Thanks David, before starting out on this I had an idea to do a blog explaining/showing artists how to create a presence online and sell their work online, also reviewing/explaining auto-responders, wp, hosting etc. (affiliate programs of course), so I’ve started the niche investigation with that idea, however, the 5 lists exercise was quite revealing, but left me wondering, how the hell am I going to combine this stuff?
Ok, yes, look for overlaps, and feelings of resonance between list items and then that gut instinct that you want to go for it, yes? After all, the next step is investigate and prove it can work, so no point in looking for perfection in metrics, right?
I would attach the lists, but don’t seem to have an attachment icon/funtion..?

You can just paste them, unless it is a long list. 🙂 But, yeah, the forum doesn’t have attachment capability.
But, yes, you’ll never get external proof something will work for you at this initial stage. That’s why it ultimately comes down to just deciding on something, whatever makes the most sense. For most things, whether it will work or not comes down to execution.

To find overlaps, I think the best way is to look at the full lists, because there’s more chance of finding overlaps that way. And also, there’s rarely anything on the list that’s a lower score than a 7, because otherwise it shouldn’t really make it onto the list. Don’t you agree?
