An introduction and an initial question or two

        Hello All!

I’ve been a member for quite some time, but haven’t been around for a long while.

So it feels like I am starting again, which I guess we are. I say we, simply because it is my wife, Ahava, who loves to write and teach, not me.

I just try to provide support and suggestions to her online activities.

A few years ago now, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. This has led to some rather dramatic changes to our lives.

During this time Ahava was writing a memoir, which a publisher has expressed interest in publishing. We’ll see where things go.

Walking with a friend, who’s husband also has Parkinson’s, the idea emerged of gathering a group of women caregivers together, who wanted to write their stories down, but didn’t know where to begin.

A few emails were sent, a couple of FB posts and a couple of adds were posted to our local online kijik type website and Ahava had filled two six week writing courses (16 participants) at $300 – 350 per student to be taught over Zoom.

It was presented as a memoir writing workshop and the feedback/testimonials from the first group are beginning to trickle in. The second class starts on Tuesday.

In a way we might have proof of concept. So now I’m scrambling to make sure we are covering all our bases and establishing a direction to go from here. Hence Starting from Scratch.

Which leads to my initial questions.

1.) Is there an article or module that delves into creating a good “feedback” form to help us with creating the next offer? I may be overthinking this.

We live on a small island, off the coast of BC in Canada. Of the 16 students, 10 knew Ahava, (3 of who had worked with her before) 3 more were referrals from friends of Ahava and the final 3 were/are unknown to Ahava.

Ahava’s website is in pretty rough shape. Will need a lot of work me thinks to be able to generate some traffic, if it ever has. So…

2.) Targeted Advertising seems to be the logical choice movingforward. FB adds would also appear to be the logical next step for reaching beyond Salt Spring Island. What is the bare minimum that I need to have in place, besides an offer and FB Pixel, to make FB adds useful?

        Cheers, Greg

I do think you might be overthinking the form. 🙂 Just remember, free-form entry is best that way you get responses in their own words. And, what you ask them is all about what you want to know and what you want to prompt from them.

As for running ads to the site, the site just needs a landing page to point them to. Something optimized for the ad so that you’re thinking of the full funnel before they arrive. And yes, you’ll want the tracking pixel in place. As well as a privacy policy page, seeing as that is something Facebook requires.
