I’ve been running occasional live courses the past 2-3 years, and have developed a bit of a reputation on social media as someone who can help the folks in my niche. However my current squarespace website was just to give a professional appearance and a bit of info. I’ve decided to take the plunge and devote proper time and effort into becoming a coach / consultant.
I’m planning on scrapping it and developing my own wordpress website with lead magnets etc to actively market my services.
Recently I took a break from social media (for my personal headspace), and haven’t been posting the occasional advice videos I used to that had build me a small following (I haven’t used paid ads at all yet, just sharing them in groups). My question is this – is it worth starting content marketing again yet before my new website is up and running? FYI I only have a few hours a week to devote to this currently, and have to learn WordPress from scratch first. MY goal is to have a working website by the end of September.
On the one hand, I don’t want to attract people to my old website and waste an opportunity to turn them into active leads. On the other hand I feel I shouldn’t be postponing anything that markets myself. I’m lucky in that I’m in a very niche industry (chiropractic), and am easily able to distinguish myself from potential competition by offering a unique take on the rest of the industry (patient-centred communication). So I don’t feel like I’m in a race with competitors at the moment – there’s a clear market need but no-one else seems to be actively trying to fill it currently.
What do you think – put all my efforts into the website first, or still continue with some content marketing whilst I’m doing this?

Always err on the side of promotion. I would continue to keep them engaged while you work on the new site. In fact, you can even tell them there’s a new site coming. 🙂
BTW, good move to get off SquareSpace. Your hands are tied when you’re there.
