Yes, I most definitely use AI. In fact, I use it quite a bit. AI is incredibly powerful and enables me to deliver far more than I would otherwise be able to do. But, given that I use AI, you may want to know exactly how I use it and what my policies are for it.
So here’s the breakdown…
The short version
AI helps me write faster, build faster, and manage client sites faster. It does not run anything on its own. Everything you read, everything that gets published, everything that touches a client’s site… a human reviewed it and approved it first. That human is me.
I specifically run this business as a human-first operation. My clients will always deal with a human (me), never a bot. Every AI operation goes through me. I am the decider.
I use AI as a tool to automate the mechanics of what I do, but never the expertise, the judgement, or the creativity.
How I Use AI In My Content
- Blog posts and rewrites. I use AI to help speed up content production and rewrites. I use it to fact check things. I do not use it to literally “write” content, but instead feed it my thoughts and my background experience on a topic, use it to help organize that into a draft, then I finalize it “by hand”. In this way, it is like a carpenter using a power drill rather than a manual screwdriver.
- The WP Edge newsletter. Same deal as blog posts (see above). I use AI to help me scan and monitor news, updates and security releases for WordPress and assemble the “News & Updates” section of the newsletter. Then, I use in-house AI systems to automate the mechanics of assembling the newsletter.
- Featured images. Yeah, a lot of them are AI-generated. Not trying to hide that. 😜
- Videos. Nope, that’s all me. But, I do use AI to help me with titles, descriptions, etc.
All content on this site is my own. It is born of my almost 3 decades of experience. There’s no way I’m going to let some AI model sit there and mimic that and pass it off as me. Not a chance.
How I Use AI In Concierge (For Client Work)
This is the part I actually want to be most clear about. You’ve trusted me with your site, and some of you with client data that runs through it. So, let me be very clear how I use AI as part of the execution of my services…
Truth is… if I wasn’t using AI to help me perform Concierge services these days, then you’d be hiring a dinosaur. 🤷♂️ AI tools in the hands of somebody who has been doing this as long as I have means…. speed of execution. It means increased accuracy. And that means better service quality for my clients.
But, you better believe I am careful and methodical about how I do this. After all, my clients trust me with the security of their websites and, by nature, the security of the data hosted on that website. That’s not something I take lightly.
I’m in the loop on everything. Always. AI helps me diagnose problems, write code, and move faster on your site. But nothing gets applied automatically. I review it, I test it, I’m the one who pulls the trigger. I have safety rules built into my internal AI systems so everything is read-only and no changes can be made until I approve. Plus, as a safeguard, everything is backed up six ways to Sunday. So, if the worst happen, I can always reverse the damage within a few minutes. But, I’ve literally never damaged a site using AI and I don’t plan to.
Your data doesn’t train anything. Every AI tool I use for client work has training and data-retention turned off. Your site content, your code, your data… none of it becomes part of some model’s training data. All actual access to your site is being executed directly from my local computer right in my office, so no cloud AI companies have any form of direct access to your site. No data is stored in the cloud.
For sensitive work, I can go fully private. When it matters, I’ve got privacy-routed AI access (through OpenRouter) and fully local AI running right here in my own office. Frankly, that’s an extra investment I made into internal infrastructure and it wasn’t cheap. I can run fully private, locally hosted AI right here in the office when needed. Which means for the stuff that really shouldn’t leave the building… it doesn’t.
Client Usage Of AI
This page is about my own personal usage of AI to conduct operations of the Blog Marketing Academy. But, I know I have clients using AI on their own websites. While it is your right to use AI on your own website in any way you please, I just wanted to make a few things clear:
- Content, copy and design you produce using AI for your own website is your own responsibility, even if I’m hosting it.
- If you mess up or break your website using AI, I’ll help you fix it. But, that will be billed time using Anytime Credits. I have my own safety policies in place for AI usage, but I obviously can’t vouch for your own practices or know-how when it comes to using AI on your own website.
- If you use AI to “fix” or debug something, just remember…. AI in the wrong hands can produce incorrect answers and recommend really stupid things. AI is a blunt instrument in the wrong hands – and you use it at your own risk.
- I know it is tempting to have AI design a landing page – or even a whole website. But trust me, while it can look good, the underlying structure of that is usually horrible and hard to maintain. I strongly encourage you to not use AI to “design” pages on your site. Consult with me first. You can generate templates to go by, but actual implementation into a WordPress site is a very different matter.
In Summary…
AI-assisted content can occasionally get something wrong, same as any tool can. I review for accuracy, but if you ever spot something off, tell me… I’ll fix it.
This policy will keep changing as the tools change and as the rules around AI keep getting written (and they are, constantly, right now). I’ll keep this page current as best I can.
