But, you’re not an expert on anything! How the hell…
Starting up an online business from scratch is… pretty freakin’ hard. š
I mean, I’m not gonna BS ya on that.
It is why I am buildingĀ The Roadmap inside the Lab. Because there’s an order to it. Decisions to be made. Work to be done. And, doing it by yourself is pretty overwhelming.
But, it is even harder if you think that the only way to do this is by putting on a “guru” or “expert” hat.
Ever wondered how you can make it if you’re not an expert on anything? Well… I’ve got some news for ya there, home slice.
“But, I’m not an expert on anything!”
The famous phrase heard ’round the world when it comes to blog monetization.
And, it makes sense. At least here at theĀ Blog Marketing Academy. Because I’ve made no secret of the fact that I thinkĀ banner ads are stupidĀ when it comes to makin’ moolah. They’re just annoying and grossly inefficient.
Affiliate marketing is better, but has it’s drawbacks, too. I look at affiliate marketing as more of a profit maximizer, not a basis for a business.
Which means… selling your own thing.
And, in this world of online marketing, everybody seems to want to be a guru. The notorious GOO-ROO! š
And, when a lot of the goo-roos teach their stuff, they often usually assume their students are in the goo-roo business, too. They teach the creation of ebooks, training, online courses, yada yada.
And, don’t get me wrong. The online education biz rocks. It is a growing industry. And, I think it is just going to grow further as our traditional education system collapses on itself. Topic for another day, but people are sorta waking up to the fact that college as it is done now isn’t always the smartest way to go. And it is too damn expensive. Anyway…
I love the online teaching business. But, it isn’t the only way to do things. And the last thing I want anybody to do is stall because they don’t think they’re an expert on anything.
You don’t have to be a GOO ROO! You don’t have to be an expert.
You just have to be willing.
See, you’re not starting a blog. At least you shouldn’t be. Not if your goal is to make an income.
You need to make a business. Businesses solve problems for people. Blogs just help spread the word.
So, what problems can you solve for people? What problems do people have that you can solve? And it doesn’t have to be with an online course! Can you solve it with a service? Consultation? Do it for them?
A lot of problems people have can be served simply with a willingness to get in there and do it… not with you shouting your gooroo-ness from the rooftops.
Offering a service is usuallyĀ the quickest path to an online business. It’s a shame people dismiss it so easily.
When you have well known gurus out there shouting the praises of “passive income”, it is easy to think anything less is bad.
It isn’t.
So, if you’re in those beginning phases of things and you’re not an expert on anything (as you see it), then ask yourself…
What service could you perform for people?
