Researching and deciding on web hosting can be a confusing experience. Not only that, actually working with that hosting and getting help you can actually understand can be even worse.

My goal with my clients is to simplify hosting. I want to put you onto services that I know I can trust and that I know well. This way I can be your main point of contact and ensure your site runs smoothly at all times. And if any issue arises, I can get in there and fix it for you fast.

The two companies I have chosen to work with are Rocket.net and xCloud.

If you are a client of mine, I will be happy to host your site for you on one of these services and fully support your site. And if you’d like to get your own account, you can do that. The choice is your’s.

Let me tell you a bit about them…

Rocket is a fully managed WordPress host. This means the entire hosting environment is engineered precisely to optimum performance for WordPress sites. Their support is among the best in the business and they are widely respected for their incredible support.

Rocket’s infrastructure is tightly integrated in with Cloudflare Enterprise. This is a global content delivery network that caches your site as close as possible to the internet backbone, meaning fastest possible page delivery to your site’s visitors regardless of where they are in the world. This makes Rocket-powered sites typically faster than any sites on the likes of WPEngine, Flywheel, Cloudways, WPX, Kinsta, etc. It is usually 2-3X faster than sites on Google Cloud (such as with SiteGround).

Truth is, much of your site’s traffic won’t even touch the server. It will be delivered directly by Cloudflare Enterprise (which would cost upwards of $6,000/month if you were to get it for yourself). But, for non-cached traffic, know that the servers hosting your site are incredibly powerful. 32+ CPU cores, 128GB RAM, NVMe storage drives, unlimited PHP workers, free Object Cache Pro, and more. Frankly, even the most expensive server offered by Cloudways couldn’t touch it.

xCloud is a very different kind of web host than Rocket. For that reason, I use it for some sites that simply don’t require the setup of Rocket.

xCloud is actually a control panel for managing virtual private servers. It is much more similar to Cloudways in that way (a company I used for a long time). This means you have have dedicated server resources and are not subject to abuses and security issues of other sites (which is typical on shared hosts like Bluehost).

With xCloud, your site will run on a highly optimized tech stack. OpenLiteSpeed, Nginx, Object Cache Pro… all of the hallmarks of performant web hosting you will have on xCloud.

Hosting With Blog Marketing Academy

I’m very open about the companies I use for hosting my clients. You can choose to get your own accounts with them and host them yourself… or you can host with my company. You will be on the same hosting… but I will be there to help manage everything and deal with the tech stuff for you.

Hosting is included with Concierge service. Depending on the plan you’re on and the size of your site, I will either put your site on Rocket or on a virtual private server through xCloud.

As a Concierge client, you’re getting far more than hosting. You’re also getting:

  • Weekly updates to themes and plugins
  • Full offsite backups (powered by BlogVault)
  • Full web application firewall, malware scanning and protection
  • “First Name Basis” support, so I will handle your web hosting confusions and deal with all the stuff for you.

From your perspective, it is fully hands-off (although you’re welcome to have direct access to your hosting if you would like). I’m your main point of contact. And I’ll be your partner in making sure your site purrs like a kitten.

Your Hosting Questions Answered

As part of helping various clients, I work with a lot of different hosts including Siteground, Rapyd and others. Sometimes I even have to go into Bluehost or Godaddy. 😉 So, yes, I’ve worked with a ton of them.

But, if you go through my company for hosting (as a Concierge client), you will be hosted with either Rocket or xCloud. You can still be a Concierge client and use your own hosting (some of them do by choice), but Rocket and xCloud are my “go to” providers.

Well, if you’re a Concierge client, the main advantage would be cost savings. After all, hosting is included. Also, when your site is in an environment I work with every day, I’m able to provide a higher level of service than if I am using a company I don’t work with as often.

If you’re not already a Concierge client, then realize that this is about way more than hosting. You can clearly go get your own hosting account, manage your own site, and it’ll be cheaper that way. Concierge is about more than that. I’ll be your main point of contact. I’ll answer your emails and requests personally. I’ll keep things updated for you. I’ll handle the offsite backups and the security. I’ll handle the nerdy stuff like DNS, server settings and the like. This way you can just concentrate on running your business.

If you would like, absolutely. I can provide you with client access to your own site in either Rocket or xCloud if you would like to be able to self-manage things as well.

Smart question! And as a guy who preaches digital sovereignty, I fully understand not being reliant on anybody as a single point of failure.

When you’re a Concierge client hosted with me, my interest is in providing you with the best possible service and make your life easier. My interest is definitely not in holding your site hostage. Not only that, if I were to get hit by a car one day, I don’t want you to be “stuck” in any way. So, here’s how I handle this…

  • If you request, I will absolutely provide you with client access to your site’s hosting so you can access it yourself.
  • I will provide to you a “operating manual” for your own website. It will document where the hosting is, your email provider, DNS provider and all the info so that you’ll know exactly who is powering your site.
  • I will also provide to you an “emergency transition” manual that will show you exactly how to migrate your site out of my hosting at any time… even without my involvement. WordPress sites are pretty easy to move, most of the time. So, even if I am handling every aspect of your hosting and DNS, it is quite doable to move your site to anywhere you want without me.
