WPX Hosting is a really solid, high-performance web host for WordPress sites. With some of the best support I’ve ever seen.

My Rating:

4 / 5

Pros

  • Great performance with included CDN and caching
  • They’ll migrate your sites for free.
  • Includes email hosting so you don’t have to look elsewhere for that.
  • Some of the best support I’ve ever experienced.

Cons

  • Limited flexibility if you have a site that cannot be cached.
  • Cannot run anything except WordPress.
  • Super cheesy interface and color scheme.

I hosted my websites with WPX Hosting for awhile before deciding to switch to Cloudways. While I no longer personally use WPX, I still think it is a pretty good web host for WordPress.

If you care about raw speed, WPX has a pretty good infrastructure. They have a super-fast server setup, their own CDN and more. Now, mind you that this performance setup works best for sites which you can fully cache. In other words, normal public blogs. If you need a fully dynamic site without page-level caching (such as a membership site), then the WPX caching layer can’t be of much help.

Like many cloud-based providers, they do bill you based on the number of sites you host. There are limits. Most people won’t hit those limits, but they are there.

They offer free automatic backups, 1-click staging sites, 1-click WordPress installs. Unlike many WordPress hosts, they even have a setup for your email so you don’t have to bother with setting it up elsewhere. That’s convenient.

I will say, their interface is cheesy. Their web interface is slow and clunky and the color scheme looks like a blast to the 90’s. As a fan of professional user interfaces, I have a hard time liking the stupid orange and maroon color scheme. And the big circles all over the place… why? Seriously.

Aside from that, though…

I have to absolutely hand it to WPX Hosting for their support. It is the best and fastest support I have ever experienced with a web host. Their support is web-based, they actually know what they’re doing, and they are FAST. If you start a support chat, you will typically have a real human being to talk with in less than 30 seconds. You can’t ask for better.

All in all, WPX Hosting is a great host. Yes, I wanted a little more horsepower so I switched to Cloudways because my needs were a little different. But, I was happy with WPX and for most blogs, you will get stellar performance and top-level support with them.
