Fix Your Site’s Performance.
Get Those Scores Up To Where They Should Be.

Let me deal with the nerdy stuff. And let’s make your site purr like a kitten.

WP Speed Fix Is Right For You If…

  • Reading about how to tweak your site performance makes you go cross-eyed
  • You run a performance test and don’t even know what the results mean
  • You don’t know what tools to use to fix your performance and don’t want to waste money buying the wrong ones.
  • You look at the settings of some performance plugin and don’t know what to do
  • You’ve tried to fix your performance on your own and all you do is break stuff.
  • You know your site’s performance is important for conversion rates, traffic and SEO
  • You can’t manage to fix your core web vitals
  • You just want to get it done and you don’t want to waste your valuable time on it.

At this point, I don’t have to explain to you why the performance of your website is important. You already know that.

You need those performance scores to be good – both for mobile and desktop. And you need those pesky core web vitals to all be in the green so that you don’t get penalized by Google and your SEO traffic drops.

You also know that knowing that and actually doing it are pretty different.

Let’s face it… tweaking the performance of your website is usually incredibly nerdy. 🤓 Tons of jargon. Tons of geek-speak. Recommendations of various plugins. It can also feel like a huge game of whack-a-mole as you test stuff to see if it worked or not.

You cannot just install a plugin and be done with it. Site performance is a pretty holistic thing and we need to look at the “big picture”.

Some Of The Important Factors Of Site Performance Include…

Here’s the basics…

  • Is your hosting up to the task and is it set up correctly for your website?
  • Do you have one or more plugins that is causing site slowdown and, if so, which one is it?
  • Are your images optimized and being served correctly?
  • Are your site’s stylesheets and scripts being loaded properly so as not to hurt your core web vital scores?
  • Is your site’s WP-Admin slow and sluggish?
  • Are you using page components that are having an overly negative impact on performance without you knowing it?

Performance of a website can’t be solved by just installing WP Rocket. 😜 Merely installing a performance plugin isn’t any kind of magic bullet. Like any tool, you’ve got to know how to use it. Plus, there are numerous other factors that will affect site performance.

When I am evaluating the performance of your site, we’re going to look at your hosting, your plugins, your images and much more. I’m going to use tools such as GTMetrix to get a handle on how your site is built and what we can do to tweak it.

What WP Speed Fix Will Do For You…

We’re going to throw our tool arsenal and experience at making your site purr like a kitten.

We’ll focus on getting your core web vitals into the green so Google is happy. And in the process, we’re going to increase your performance scores on GTMetrix and PageSpeed Insights.

Mobile performance scores can be particularly pesky, too. But, we’ll do everything we can to get those numbers up for you.

Some of the key things we will be looking at for your site include:

  • Upgrade your hosting (if necessary)
  • Leverage browser caching
  • Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content
  • Inline critical, above the fold CSS
  • Defer javascript
  • Enable compression
  • Minify CSS, HTML and Javascript
  • Reduce server response time
  • Ensure proper SSL security
  • Optimize images (and bulk optimize existing Media Library)
  • Implement full page caching
  • Implement object caching
  • Optimize/upgrade PHP version
  • Specify image dimensions
  • Remove references to missing resources
  • Use pre-loading of assets where applicable
  • Combine plugins with overlapping functionality
  • Remove and replace poor performing plugins
  • Disable WordPress components not used
  • Implement CDN
  • Localize fonts and tracking scripts
  • Database optimization
  • Removal of autoloaded WP options no longer used
  • Selective loading of active plugins
  • Removed unused CSS
  • Lazy loading of images
  • Deactivating unused plugins

And don’t worry… if you don’t know what a lot of that stuff means, that’s what we’re here for. 🤓

Now, we’re not going to guarantee perfect 100 scores. That would be impossible to guarantee because every site is different. Plus, perfect 100 often entails the necessity to change actual components of your site and you may or may not be willing to do that. The good news is that perfect scores are not necessary whatsoever.

We’ll definitely make sure your core web vitals are in the green as that’s pretty important. And we’ll show you before and after scores on performance so you can see what was done. And we’ll get it as high as we can within reason.

Any plugins and services we may use to accomplish this are included and you won’t have to buy anything else. That includes image optimization, performance plugins, etc.

Basically, you give us the URL and access to the site and we’ll take it from there.

I recently had the pleasure of using David Risley’s WP Speed Fix service for my website, www.TransformadosEnCristo.com and I must say, the experience has been nothing short of exceptional.

The results are undeniable – my website’s speed has seen a dramatic improvement, jumping from a D to an A with a 93% in GTmetrix performance score, which has greatly enhanced the user experience.

He provided valuable insights and recommendations for maintaining and further improving site performance over time. It’s evident that David cares about the long-term success of his clients’ online presence.

OK, Let’s Take Questions…

Your site’s hosting is obviously a very important component to your site’s speed. And I promise to give you an honest assessment of your host. If I think a change of host is warranted, you’ll know about it. However, it isn’t required that you change hosts at all. That’s totally your call.

I will tweak your site as much as possible on it’s existing hosting. And if you’d get much better service with better hosting, I will give you my recommendations and you can decide how you’d like to proceed.

It is hard to know. Site performance tweaking is often a classic case of the 80/20 rule. That first 80-90% improvement in scores isn’t usually too hard to pull off. But, that final bit to try to get to a perfect 100 is the hard part.

Plus, there’s so many factors that go into this. So, frankly, I’d be rather stupid to tell you exactly what your scores will be when we’re done here. But, you will be fully informed along the way and you’ll know exactly what is going on the whole time.

I’ve had sites come to me that have been neglected and have no optimization at all. On such sites, if the owner takes all of my recommendations, I’m sometimes able to get those sites to load up 5-10X faster than before. Those are extreme cases, though.

Like most people, we make heavy use of GTMetrix and Pagespeed Insights to do our speed testing.

I love PerfMatters for performance tweaking due to it’s power and lightweight nature. The last thing we want is a performance plugin that is itself beefy, right?

I use ShortPixel for image optimization. And, of course, I have some other tools I use as the need arises.

Sometimes, reaching good metrics means making some changes to your website. Sometimes that may mean swapping one or more of your plugins with options that work better. Sometimes that can involve changes to how your website is actually designed.

For instance, I’ve seen people over-using images. I’ve seen people using poorly coded plugins. I’ve seen people putting big sliders or image carousels on their site while being oblivious to the negative impact on site performance.

During our evaluation, I will let you know of any issues I see. I won’t make any changes to your website that would be publicly noticed without your approval first.

No. I will supply any performance plugin as well as API access to ShortPixel so that we can optimize your site’s images in your Media Library. You will also be able to continue using those after the service is completed.

If any more fundamental changes end up being needed (like a hosting change or a theme change), you will know about it upfront and you will be in the driver’s seat. We’ll work it out. But, in terms of any tools needed to optimize your site performance, we’ve got it all taken care of.

Every site is different. And frankly, I won’t know what will be involved until I run the first performance test and dig into your site a bit. Once you book WP Speed Fix, I will be setting up a private Basecamp project which you and I will use for communication on the project. I’ll then run my initial tests on your site and take a look at the overall situation. From there, I’ll be able to give you a better idea of things.

In many cases, it is fairly fast. But, if we decided to make more fundamental changes to fix bigger issues with your site, that can take longer.

How To Get Started

Here’s what’s going to happen after you book this service…

You will fill out an onboarding form to ask you a few questions about your site. You will also need to set up an administrator user profile to WordPress for me as well as grant me access to your web host. Instructions will be provided.

I will also create a private project on Basecamp for us to collaborate. We’ll use Basecamp to communicate back and forth over the coming days while we tweak your site. It is much better than emails (since emails tend to get lost and isn’t very secure).

I will then log into your site and do an initial audit of the situation. I’ll post my findings and general plan as well as initial GTMetrix performance reports so we know where we started.

Over the coming days, we’ll speed up your site as much as humanly possible. We’ll back up the site first as a precaution if something breaks. And if your host makes it easy, we’ll even test larger changes in staging first.

When we’re done, if there are any recommendations we have for your site moving forward, we’ll send those to you. We’ll also send a final performance report so you can see the before/after.

Speed. Get Some.
