Starting in this video, in the next several videos coming up here on this channel, we are going to build a membership site. Now, this is something I do all the time, and I’m going to go through all the various mechanics, the various pages, how to connect things up, and basically treat this as a little mini course here on YouTube. All right? So if you subscribe to the channel, get on to this playlist. I will be posting things into this playlist, and we will build this membership site together. So let’s go ahead and get started. Okay, so right here at the outset, before we get started, I want to talk about my underlying philosophy when it comes to membership sites. That might seem like a deep word, but it basically comes down to this. I am a big believer and proponent of what I call digital sovereignty, and that means that you are building a online business platform that you fully own and control control. That means we’re going to try to avoid using external services as much as possible. That means no Zafier, no external CRMs, those types of things. We’re going to build the entire thing on top of WordPress so that your site is self-contained.

It doesn’t mean you’re not going to connect up to things like Stripe and process credit cards. That’s normal. But the thing is, you want to have everything in-house so that you own and control the data. I call that digital sovereignty. It’s one of my core principles for how I build membership sites. And when clients come to me in order to help build their membership site, unless they tell me, No, I need to use a particular tool, like active campaign or something like that, if they come to me for tool recommendations, I’m going to bring them in-house. And we’re going to use a series of tools that puts everything on top of WordPress, works incredibly nicely. There’s no integration issues, no weird dealing with web hooks. I mean, if we can avoid all that type of stuff, it’s going to make our life a lot simpler. So moving forward in this series, that’s one of the underlying philosophies with the tools that I’m going to use and the way that I’m going to show you how to do things. We’re going to do it all inside of WordPress, and we’re going to do that so that you own and control the entire thing the entire time.
