Calling it like it is when it comes to the effectiveness of using banner ads to monetize your blog. If you’re going to use banner ads on your blog, you MUST go into it knowing what the deal is (and what you’re giving up).
Building good looking sales pages and landing pages can be a frustrating experience. You want something that looks professional and will convert, but often you don’t have the technical chops to pull it off.
Metrics are important to growing and managing your business, but if the numbers are hard to get or scattered then it is harder to use them. The best solution for me has been to create a one-stop dashboard.
How can you tell if your podcast listeners are buying things, or if your Twitter followers opt-in when they come to your blog? The answer is UTM parameters. This post gives you a plain-English description of what they are and how to use them to track your online marketing ROI.
Most blog owners end up wasting a huge opportunity when it comes to how they use their blog categories. This post will discuss how to truly LEVERAGE your categories into powerful vehicles for marketing.
An announcement of the new Tech Center here at the Academy, and a request for YOUR help. 🙂
In the process of prepping up the first Academy Action Plan as well as an upcoming new live class (details forthcoming soon), I found myself creating landing pages. But, this time, I decided to really work on setting something up that I can use long-term. Not some bandaid solution that just manages to get…
Today’s plug-in was one that, when I found it… I was excited. This was something I was wanting to do on this blog, but thought I would need to manually code it. But, alas… there was no need.

It is truly the cadillac of forms plug-ins. I personally use Gravity Forms on every one of my websites.
All online businesses – big and small – need to have some kind of system in place for managing customer support. Problem is, like a lot of other things these days, there are about a thousand different options for doing so. Lots of different support desks out there, and it is hard to determine…
One of the things I’ve been resolved to do lately is make more videos. Simply put, I felt like I was dropping the ball with my Youtube channel and sacrificing a pretty effective strategy… basically because I thought I didn’t have the time. But, then Youtube Capture came out on the iPhone. Then, I…
In case you hadn’t heard, Google most definitely considers how fast your site runs when it decides how well to rank you in the search results. But, ironically enough, it is often the search engines themselves which slow our sites to a crawl. Well, you can put some controls in on this. It is a bit…
I find that Migrate Guru is the easiest and most reliable way to migrate (or move) your WordPress blog to a new web host. It is also free. Here’s how to do it.
I recently announced that I was switching my email marketing for the Academy from Aweber over to Office Autopilot. For me, this makes sense. However, for many people who read my blog, it won’t. The fact is that Office Autopilot is overkill for the typical solopreneur or blogger. Not only that, it starts at $297/month…
There probably isn’t anything in the world of online business that causes as many discussions, confusions and opinions than talking about different platforms. Which cart do we use? Which email service should we use? Which plug-ins do we use? It is easy to get so focused on the software that we become paralyzed by the…
Sometimes it’s good to think outside the box and question some of the assumptions that we make. This especially goes in the world of blogging and online marketing. There are a lot of things out there that everybody does and the thing is… if everybody does it maybe you need to go a different direction….
Lately, I’ve been looking for a good CRM for my business. Now, first of all, what is a CRM? CRM basically stand for Customer Relationship Manager. Essentially, I look at it as a glorified customer database. Now, a true blue enterprise level CRM does a lot of things, many of which I’m not interested in. You…

Continuing on my product reviews, today I want to discuss OptimizePress. I’ve made no secret of the fact that I strongly recommend this theme. But, why?
It is because I use it personally on several different sites. It is because the cost compared to the multiple uses of this theme make it one HELL of a buy.
So, first… the video. Then, I’ll lay it out – pros and cons.
OK, news alert: I recommend Aweber.
Of course, that’s not news. I’ve been recommending Aweber for years now, and so do many others.
But, why? Is it just because they have an affiliate program? I know people have thrown that claim out there, especially with the likes of Mailchimp around. Mailchimp offers a free account, so obviously many bloggers prefer to use that and often wonder why people like me continue to recommend Aweber.
I have long recommended the themes over at Elegant Themes to people who want something better than a freebie theme can offer. One of the reasons I recommend them is because of the price, quite frankly. 🙂
